Our History

Family tradition since 1975

Bodegas J. Ferris M. was founded in 1975 by Jesús Ferris Marhuenda and his wife Cándida Ruiz Laynez. Owners of extensive historic vineyards, the winery is located in the Sherry triangle — the area protected by the DO “Jerez-Xérès-Sherry” — where our wines rest and age full of the land's history and flavour.

The Jerez area covers the municipalities of Jerez de la Frontera, Sanlúcar de Barrameda and El Puerto de Santa María. The warm, humid climate combined with albariza and saline soils that retain moisture favours the production and aging of high-quality wines.

Bodegas Ferris - family portrait

Bodegas J. Ferris M. is located in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The proximity to the Guadalquivir estuary, the influence of the Guadalete and the sea breeze, together with albariza soils and the elevation of the small hill where the winery stands, create ideal conditions for aging Jerez wines. These wines are known for their characteristic aromas, persistent palate and the unique personality given by the land and climate. They are classified as fortified wines — a treasure of Spanish winemaking — noted for their alcohol strength and aromatic intensity.
